Comfort Zone: Springboard to your destiny

Writer's picture: Linda FerrariLinda Ferrari

Have you heard my theory on the 'comfort zone'?

In a nutshell, my theory is that we all need a comfort zone to be our best selves. We need a space where we can restore, nurture and revitalise ourselves so we can spring into action.

This space can be physical, but most importantly we must have a mental space where we can pause for a moment, take a breath, refocus on our desired outcome then launch ourselves knowing we are ready, and in control of our choices and destiny.

Imagine you are an Olympic diver, lining up for your final dive. You have been training for years, you know what you want, and you know what is required to make this THE winning dive. You step up to the board. You pause, adjust your bathers, take a deep breathe and step into the dive sequence.

I don't encourage living in the comfort zone, that won't move your life forward.

Simply, I invite you to create a safe space for yourself, surrounded with uplifting thoughts and affirmations, with a clear focus on your goals and commitment to making the best choices for YOU. Create a simple ritual that allows you to step into the comfort zone and finish with a launch.

For example, this one below take 2 breaths or around 15 seconds which is a fairly long one, but as you practise you will discover you can move from step 1 - to 7 in a couple of seconds:

  1. Mentally / physically stop

  2. Take a deep breathe

  3. Imagine you are in a round room, the walls are soft pink, covered in plants and photo's of your family. You look out of the window and see your (insert big goals here), reminding yourself that this is what you are going for.

  4. Exhale, repeating a mantra or affirmation

  5. Take another deep breath, as you do consider the situation in front of you - what is the best action for YOU to take? What will ensure the best outcome for you and your goal/s?

  6. Exhale, touch your left earlobe and feel a rush of energy enter your body

  7. Inhale and go
